Mindscreen Alumnus’ bid for Oscar!
Mindscreen is the best institute in India and has been consistently getting top ratings by various media channels in India.
SWAPNIL SONAWANE, a Mindscreen Alumnus (6th batch) is the Director of Photography for the movie, "Newton", India’s official entry to Oscars 2018.
"This was one of the most exciting experiments I've done in photography! Thanks to my institute's (Mindscreen) Prof. Mr. Gyanashekharan sir who in his class taught us something so great yet simple that I had to try it! The question he asked that morning was "Do you need a lens on your camera to form an image?" some students said yes and some no. I said no as I thought of the pin-hole camera and where it all started, that we all know!"Swapnil Sonawane (latentsouls.blogspot.in)
"…The film has cinematography by Swapnil Sonawane, who was a former student of Rajiv Menon’s Mindscreen Film Institute. Swapnil’s cinematography emphasizes the jungle’s dusty tones and finds interesting vantage points to capture the action from, using some visually appealing wide-angle shots. Swapnil Sonawane, the cinematographer, chose to shoot the film in natural light so as to make it look real. Great care had to be taken to shoot scenes at the right time. A fair amount of research went there as well – in choosing the right camera and lenses."Behindwoods.com
"...Asked why the jury selected `Newton', the jury chairman C V Reddy said the film had a good subject that was handled well and also for being high on technical values.
"It was an unanimous decision,“ he said on the selection of the film."Times of India e-newspaper
