Editing

• Understandings the need to Edit
• History of editing, Edison and Dickson, Pudovkin and Eisenstein to Digital Era. Role of an Editor, Difference between Drama and Cinema. Understanding a Story, understanding a script, Understanding the RAW footage. Transcoding the footage to your Edit system.
• Language and Grammar of Cinema, shots to story, Real time and Screen time, Beginning, Middle and End, Climax. Kinds of shots-close up and long shot. Wide angle and Normal shot
• The Camera as Narrator. - Types of Angle, subjective and objective camera angle.
• Mise-en- scene, Master shot, long shot, Transition - Dissolve and wipes, Continuity, Special effects, inserts, digitally created effects.

Sound

• Introduction of sound
• Technical and Aesthetic understanding of Sound (Audio) including the study of professional Microphones, Speakers, Amplifiers, Audio Mixers, Recording studio, Acoustics and Digital plug-ins.
• (b) Analysis of important movie sound track , along with study of sound design aspects of dialogue recording, Dubbing, Music recording, and sound effects, special effects and Use of Diegetic and non-Diegetic Sounds. Foley sounds.
• (c). Understanding the Digital recording platform Pro tools. After understanding the basic we will continue to understand and perform all recording subjects. As example Voice, music, effects, special effects and Foley are just a few examples. Also Analogue recording will be explained for knowledge and understanding. Digital studio will be provided for practical’s and projects.
• (d) As a standard practice the world over and increasingly getting popular in Bollywood, we will impart Sync sound recording. Extensive coverage will be imparted in theory and in practice of the following.
